Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Reading to appoint a passionate and dedicated Key Stage 1 Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative school community and play a key role in developing pupils’ early educational foundations.

This role would suit an enthusiastic and nurturing teacher with a strong understanding of Key Stage 1, who is committed to helping pupils build confidence and achieve success in their early years of primary education.

The Role

As a KS1 Teacher, you will support young learners as they develop core skills in literacy, numeracy, and social development. You will deliver engaging lessons and foster a love of learning within a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons in line with the KS1 national curriculum
  • Support pupils’ progress in reading, writing, phonics, and maths
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and targeted interventions
  • Support children with a range of abilities, including those with SEN
  • Promote pupils’ confidence, independence, and positive behaviour
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – desirable
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 1
  • Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and phonics teaching
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Engaging, adaptable, and nurturing teaching style
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work full-time in Reading from September
Desirable
  • Experience teaching Year 1 or Year 2
  • Knowledge of phonics schemes (e.g. Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds)
  • Experience using assessment data to support pupil progress
  • Experience supporting children with SEN
  • Commitment to inclusive, high-quality teaching and learning
