Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Reading to appoint a passionate and dedicated Key Stage 1 Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative school community and play a key role in developing pupils’ early educational foundations.
This role would suit an enthusiastic and nurturing teacher with a strong understanding of Key Stage 1, who is committed to helping pupils build confidence and achieve success in their early years of primary education.
The RoleAs a KS1 Teacher, you will support young learners as they develop core skills in literacy, numeracy, and social development. You will deliver engaging lessons and foster a love of learning within a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons in line with the KS1 national curriculum
- Support pupils’ progress in reading, writing, phonics, and maths
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and targeted interventions
- Support children with a range of abilities, including those with SEN
- Promote pupils’ confidence, independence, and positive behaviour
- Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – desirable
- Experience teaching in Key Stage 1
- Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and phonics teaching
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- Engaging, adaptable, and nurturing teaching style
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work full-time in Reading from September
- Experience teaching Year 1 or Year 2
- Knowledge of phonics schemes (e.g. Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds)
- Experience using assessment data to support pupil progress
- Experience supporting children with SEN
- Commitment to inclusive, high-quality teaching and learning
