Teach Now is recruiting a dedicated KS1 Teaching Assistant for a long-term role at a supportive primary school in Barnet.
Working alongside the class teacher, you will help younger pupils develop the academic, social and emotional foundations they need to succeed. The KS1 Teaching Assistant will support whole-class activities, focused groups and individual pupils who require additional encouragement.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys helping children become confident, independent learners.
- Supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 1
- Leading phonics, reading and early mathematics activities
- Helping pupils develop handwriting and communication skills
- Providing additional support for pupils with SEN
- Encouraging positive learning behaviour and independence
- Preparing classroom resources and practical activities
- Observing pupil progress and reporting back to the teacher
- Supporting safe transitions, playtimes and classroom routines
The school is seeking someone who:
- Has recent experience supporting primary-aged children
- Understands the learning and development needs of KS1 pupils
- Has experience supporting phonics or early reading
- Communicates clearly and positively with children
- Can maintain warm but consistent boundaries
- Works well with teachers and other support staff
- Has the right to work in the UK
- Is committed to safeguarding and inclusion
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable. Relevant experience in a school, nursery or intervention setting will also be considered.
