We are looking for a motivated and caring Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive school team. This role involves working with pupils in Years 1 and 2, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive.
You will work closely with the class teacher to support teaching and learning, provide targeted interventions, and contribute to the academic and personal development of pupils.

Location: Burnley
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour
Contract Type: Full-time
Start Date: Tuesday 1st September 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality lessons across the KS1 curriculum
- Work with small groups or individual pupils to reinforce learning
- Assist in preparing classroom resources and activities
- Support pupils’ reading, writing, and numeracy development
- Help manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Provide additional support for pupils with varying needs, including SEND
- Monitor and record pupil progress where required
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting
- Good understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A supportive, patient, and enthusiastic approach
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification
- Experience working in a KS1 classroom
- Knowledge of phonics programmes (e.g. Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds)
- Experience supporting children with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
