Are you a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in a supportive primary school environment? We are seeking a committed KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Blackburn for a full-time role throughout the academic year.

About the Role

As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support pupils' academic, social and emotional development. The role will involve a combination of general classroom support and delivering focused interventions designed to accelerate pupil progress.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing general classroom support within a KS1 setting.
  • Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging learning activities.
  • Delivering phonics interventions and supporting pupils to develop early literacy skills.
  • Conducting phonics assessments and monitoring pupil progress.
  • Delivering reading and writing intervention programmes to individuals and small groups.
  • Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to access learning successfully.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Assisting with classroom preparation, resources and assessment activities.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

  • Has previous experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Has experience supporting pupils within KS1.
  • Has knowledge of phonics schemes and early reading development.
  • Is confident delivering interventions and monitoring progress.
  • Has experience supporting children with SEND.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is patient, adaptable and committed to helping children achieve their potential.
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.
