Wolviston Management Services are recruiting on behalf of Tioxide Materials Ltd for 4 Laboratory Shift Analysts to join the team at their manufacturing facility in Greatham, Hartlepool, please see details below;

Job Purpose:
  
The Laboratory Shift Analyst provides a 24/7 analytical service to plant teams and other site functions, ensuring routine and non-routine testing is completed accurately, reliably and in a timely manner.
  
The role works in accordance with approved work instructions, quality and environmental management systems, supporting the production of safe, high-quality product through accurate analysis, timely reporting, appropriate escalation and effective laboratory control.
  
Roles and Responsibilities:
Analytical Testing & Sample Preparation: Complete routine and non-routine analytical testing, sample preparation and laboratory analysis for in-process materials, raw materials, final product, trial samples, customer complaint samples, environmental samples and investigation samples.
Safety & Compliance: Maintain high standards of laboratory safety, housekeeping and compliance, using COSHH and Zero Harm tools and participating in laboratory safety communications and cross-functional meetings.
Results Interpretation & Reporting: Interpret, record, input and report analysis results accurately and promptly, escalating out-of-specification, non-conforming or trend-related concerns that may impact product, material or environmental quality.
Sample Management: Ensure appropriate samples are taken in accordance with sample schedules, liaising with plant teams to request samples and escalating issues where samples are delayed or not received.
Technical Knowledge & Development: Maintain and develop working knowledge of relevant management systems, manufacturing processes, laboratory methods and analytical techniques to support reliable testing and continuous self-development.
Equipment Care & Maintenance: Take responsibility for the use, care, maintenance, inspection, calibration, troubleshooting and servicing of laboratory equipment, particularly during nightshift and weekend working.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement: Review, update and improve laboratory documents, including work instructions, procedures, schedules and other controlled documentation.
Waste Management & Sustainability: Support laboratory waste management, sustainability and cost control requirements, including the disposal of final packed pigment, while demonstrating behaviours that support a positive values-based culture.
  
Experience and Qualifications:
Essential
  • Relevant scientific, engineering or technical qualification, or equivalent relevant industrial experience.
  • Experience working within a laboratory, testing or technical environment in an analytical role.
  • Working knowledge and practical experience of quality and environmental management systems.
  • Applied knowledge and understanding of analytical test methods and associated laboratory techniques.
  • Experience interpreting, recording and reporting analytical results accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to identify out-of-specification results, non-conforming results and quality trends, and escalate appropriately.
  • Good understanding of laboratory safety, COSHH requirements, housekeeping standards and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work effectively on a shift basis as part of a 24/7 operational laboratory service.
  • Ability to follow approved working instructions, procedures and sample schedules.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with plant teams, laboratory colleagues and shift managers.
Desirable
  • Experience working in a chemical, process, manufacturing or high-hazard industrial environment.
  • Experience in X-ray fluorescence, colour spectroscopy and particle size measurement techniques.
  • Experience supporting customer complaint, environmental or investigation sample analysis.
  • Experience maintaining, calibrating or troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
  • Experience updating laboratory work instructions, procedures or schedules.
  • Experience supporting an Emergency Response Team or incident control room activity.
  • Experience providing operational cover or supporting plant teams during site services activity, plant downtime or quiet periods.
