Job Opportunity: Laboratory Technician - Join Our Client's Dynamic Team!
Our client, one of the top three soft drink manufacturers, is on the lookout for a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join their team . This is a fantastic temporary full-time position where you'll support the Laboratory Supervisor and play a crucial role in product development. Key Responsibilities:
As a Laboratory Technician, you will be at the heart of our client's product innovation. Here's what you'll be doing:
Laboratory Tasks:
- Organise and maintain the lab, ensuring all materials and equipment meet the highest standards.
- Conduct daily calibrations on key equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with contract companies to uphold cleaning, maintenance, and waste disposal protocols.
- Create and monitor cleaning and equipment maintenance schedules.
- Liaise with suppliers to manage stock rotation and traceability of incoming materials.
- Maintain detailed records of ingredients, processes, and procedures for complete traceability.
- Write and review lab procedures, instructions, and guidelines with the support of your line manager.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement efforts within the New Product Development (NPD) team.
- Report any significant variations and faults to the area owner and line manager.
- Propose enhancements to lab operations for greater efficiency.
Product Development:
- Produce reliable samples in the lab, including concentrates, emulsions, and finished products.
- Assist Scientists in documenting production and analytical results.
- Validate and record samples or batches created in the lab.
- Operate lab equipment independently to facilitate NPD delivery.
Primary Interactions:
- Internally, you will engage with the NPD Team and collaborate with other departments like Sensory when needed.
- Externally, you will connect with ingredient and equipment suppliers.
Qualifications and Professional Experience:
- A technical education or Bachelor of Science in a food-related science field (Food Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or Agricultural Engineering).
- Laboratory experience in a food or beverage setting is a plus!
Key Competencies and Skills:
- Basic knowledge of R&D processes.
- Ability to support Scientists and manage assigned responsibilities effectively.
- Commitment to good laboratory practises and quality standards.
- Organised and detail-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Strong English language skills, at least conversational.
