The Company

An established supplier to leading high-street retailers and supermarkets is looking for a Ladies’ Licensed Nightwear Designer to join their successful design team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and commercially minded designer with experience in licensed/character-led products and a strong understanding of ladies’ nightwear. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across a variety of established and recognisable licensed brands and develop exciting seasonal collections for major retail customers.

The Role

  • Designing ladies’ nightwear and associated apparel ranges for high-street retailers and supermarkets.
  • Developing seasonal collections across licensed and character-led nightwear.
  • Working closely with the wider design team to ensure ranges are commercially relevant, on trend and aligned with customer requirements.
  • Creating designs from initial concepts through to final artwork.
  • Working on customer briefs, technical packs, trend boards and presentations.
  • Developing placement graphics, all-over prints, colourways and garment details.
  • Attending design and customer meetings where required.
  • Producing CADs and artwork using Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Following designs through the sampling and development process.
  • Liaising with overseas factories and suppliers to ensure designs are produced accurately.
  • Working closely with buying, merchandising and production teams.
  • Managing multiple projects and ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Working to critical paths and supporting the smooth delivery of seasonal ranges.

Skills Required

  • Previous experience within ladies’ nightwear, womenswear or a similar apparel design role is essential.
  • Experience working with licensed brands, characters or licensed apparel is highly advantageous.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within a similar design position.
  • A fashion-related degree or relevant design qualification is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator, with the ability to create and present commercial CADs and artwork.
  • Good understanding of ladies’ nightwear, fashion trends, prints, graphics and colour.
  • Creative, with a strong commercial eye and an understanding of the high-street and supermarket customer.
  • Able to interpret briefs and translate trends and licensed artwork into commercially successful products.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passionate about fashion, licensed product and product development.
  • Enthusiastic, hardworking and keen to develop innovative and commercially relevant designs.
