We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking Laundry Assistant & Delivery Driver to join our friendly Facilities Team at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
This is an important role that helps ensure our wards and departments have a continuous supply of clean linen and equipment to provide safe, high-quality patient care. About the Role
As a Laundry Assistant & Delivery Driver, you will play a key part in the day-to-day linen service across the hospital. You will receive, store, prepare and deliver clean linen, collect soiled linen, and ensure all deliveries are completed safely and efficiently.
The role also involves driving Trust laundry vehicles and operating an electric tug to transport linen and equipment across the hospital site. You will help maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and customer service while following all Trust policies, standard operating procedures and health and safety requirements.
Main Duties
Your responsibilities will include:
- Receiving clean linen from the Trust's laundry contractor and storing it correctly.
- Preparing and packing clean linen for wards and departments.
- Recording linen issued and assisting with stock monitoring.
- Delivering clean linen to wards and departments according to scheduled delivery times.
- Responding promptly to additional linen requests.
- Collecting soiled linen and transporting it safely to the designated storage area.
- Driving Trust laundry vehicles and operating an electric tug in accordance with road traffic legislation and Trust procedures.
- Carrying out daily vehicle safety inspections and cleaning/decontamination in accordance with HTM guidance.
- Transporting equipment, products and waste safely around the hospital site.
- Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe.
- Maintaining excellent hygiene standards and providing a courteous, professional service to colleagues.
- Following all Trust policies, procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Undertaking any other duties appropriate to the role.

- Is reliable, motivated and able to work as part of a busy team.
- Has good communication and customer service skills.
- Can work independently and manage a varied workload.
- Is physically fit and comfortable with manual handling activities.
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
- Understands the importance of health and safety and infection prevention.
- Holds a full, valid UK driving licence and is confident driving vehicles safely (essential).
