We are partnering with a global, market-leading software company in their search for a Lead Accountant. This is a 6-month temporary role (covering an internal project secondment) based in London, offering a hybrid working model (3 days per week in the office) and a day rate of up to £406 per day via umbrella for the right candidate.
The Role
You will take full ownership of month-end close activities, statutory reporting, and technical accounting for the core UK legal entity (overseeing EMEA and Canada operations). Stepping in to backfill an internal secondment, your primary focus will be pushing the current external audit across the finish line, driving month-end close under US GAAP, and providing review support across team journal entries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit Ownership: Act as the primary lead to drive the external statutory audit to full completion, liaising directly with auditors and preparing statutory financial statements.
- Month-End Close & Review: Oversee month-end close procedures under US GAAP, post complex journal entries, and perform high-level reviews of journal postings to ensure high quality and accuracy.
- Entity Oversight: Drive P&L and balance sheet variance analysis with FP&A and present quarterly balance sheet fluctuation commentary to senior stakeholders (including the CAO).
- Technical Accounting & Controls: Advise on new accounting standards (specifically Revenue Recognition and Leases), research local GAAP/US GAAP positions, and support SOX compliance.
- Business Partnering: Partner closely with Product Offerings, Corporate Tax, FP&A, and Treasury teams, ensuring compliance across transfer pricing and local tax filings.
This role could be right for you if you have:
- Qualifications: Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) with strong post-qualification industry experience.
- Audit & Month-End Track Record: Demonstrable experience driving external statutory audits and managing complex month-end closes for multi-currency legal entities.
- Accounting Standards: Deep technical expertise in US GAAP (essential) and IFRS / Local GAAP.
- Systems & Review Skills: Proficiency in large ERP packages (Oracle Financials preferred), with a track record of reviewing team outputs and setting strong accounting standards.
