Overview:
Our Client is looking for a motivated, organised and self-managing individual to join there Northern VMI Operations Team as a Lead Associate (Team Leader).
This is a hands-on leadership role supporting a small team of remote field-based colleagues who service customer sites across Deeside, Liverpool, Manchester and Preston. The successful candidate will take responsibility for day-to-day coordination, operational support, sickness and holiday cover, and maintaining excellent customer service standards.
Working primarily from home or our Preston depot, you will regularly travel between customer locations and act as a key support point for VMI system upgrades, remedial works, operational improvements and customer requirements.
Key responsibilities
Lead and support a small team of remote field-based associates.
Coordinate daily activities and ensure agreed customer service levels are maintained.
Provide sickness and holiday cover across customer locations.
Carry out VMI system maintenance, upgrades and remedial works across managed systems.
Identify opportunities for service improvements and support implementation once approved.
Maintain strong working relationships with customers across varied industries including shipyards, aerospace, rail, manufacturing and engineering sites.
Work to company and customer procedures, including site-specific Health and Safety requirements.
Use Microsoft Office, Teams, email, smartphone applications and reporting tools for communication and updates.
Travel throughout the region and stay away from home at short notice when required.
Essential requirements
Proven track record in a warehouse, logistics, inventory, operations or team leader role.
Full UK driving licence, ideally clean.
Competent to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.
Able to self-manage workload and schedule when unsupervised.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage professionally at all levels.
Positive and customer-focused approach.
Able to work effectively in a team environment and independently when required.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Teams, email and mobile applications.
Able to multitask, prioritise and adapt to changing operational needs.
Able to lift and move materials safely up to 25kg.
Desirable requirements
Forklift Truck licence.
Experience within Vendor Managed Inventory, stock control, field service or customer site operations.
Experience supporting process improvement or continuous improvement activity.
