Lead Building Regulations Principal Designer

A leading architectural practice in Leeds is seeking a Lead Building Regulations Principal Designer to develop and grow its BRPD service offering.

This is a standout opportunity for an experienced BRPD to take ownership of an emerging service line within an established architectural environment, combining complex project delivery with technical leadership and business development.

The successful Principal Designer will work closely with Architects and Architectural Technologists across a strong pipeline of residential, healthcare and Higher-Risk Building projects.

The Lead BRPD Role

The Lead Building Regulations Principal Designer will take technical responsibility for BRPD services, leading projects through the Building Regulations and Building Safety Act compliance process.

A major focus will be Higher-Risk Buildings, including compliance reviews, Gateway submissions, design change control and engagement with the Building Safety Regulator.

Alongside project delivery, you will develop internal procedures, provide technical guidance and training, support fee proposals and help establish and grow the BRPD offering.

The Lead Building Regulations Principal Designer

  • Strong BRPD or Building Control experience
  • Proven experience working on Higher-Risk Buildings
  • Excellent Building Regulations and Building Safety Act knowledge
  • Experience with Gateway submissions and the BSR
  • RICS, CABE, RIBA, ARB or CIAT background advantageous
  • Confident leading clients and multidisciplinary design teams
  • Commercial mindset with an interest in growing a service line
