Are you an experienced Lead Contractor Design Approval Engineer (LCDAE) looking for a flexible contract opportunity?

We're looking to speak with experienced design assurance professionals to support a major UK electricity transmission infrastructure project. The requirement is focused on providing LCDAE support throughout detailed design, with the potential to continue into the construction support phase.

This is a specialist part-time requirement, expected to average around 8 hours per week, although additional input may be required depending on design submissions, reviews and project demand.

The role will be delivered predominantly remotely, with occasional attendance at office or site meetings where required.

·Undertake the role of LCDAE in accordance with National Grid TP137.
·Provide design assurance and technical oversight throughout the detailed design phase.
·Review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications and associated design documentation.
·Ensure designs comply with applicable National Grid Technical Procedures, standards and project requirements.
·Review and coordinate multidisciplinary design interfaces.
·Identify technical risks, design compliance issues and departures from applicable standards.
·Support the resolution and close-out of design review comments and technical actions.
·Liaise with engineers, designers, contractors and client stakeholders throughout the design process.
·Support technical and design review meetings as required.
·Maintain appropriate records and evidence of design review and approval activities.
·Provide engineering and design assurance support during the construction phase where required.
·Review technical changes and design amendments arising during construction.

About You

·Experienced LCDAE and/or CDAE with a strong background in electricity transmission projects.
·Strong working knowledge of National Grid TP137 and associated TP standards.
·Previous experience within HV/EHV substation design and design assurance.
·Experience reviewing and approving multidisciplinary engineering design packages.
·Strong understanding of interfaces across primary plant, secondary systems, civil and structural engineering disciplines.
·Previous experience supporting asset replacement, refurbishment or modification works within operational substations.
·Able to independently review, challenge and approve technical designs.
·Strong communication skills and comfortable working with multidisciplinary project teams.
·Existing or recent National Grid authorisation would be highly advantageous.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced LCDAE to secure a flexible, predominantly remote contract supporting a significant UK transmission infrastructure project, with a relatively low weekly time commitment and the potential for additional input as the project progresses.
