Lead Electro-Mechanical Engineer in Gloucester, Gloucestershire

Our client, a global engineering business specialising in advanced aerospace systems and components, are looking for a Lead Electro-Mechanical Engineer in Gloucester to join their team on a permanent basis.

This is a senior technical role leading the definition, development and integration of complex electro-mechanical actuation and control systems across the full engineering lifecycle.

Key responsibilities of the Lead Electro-Mechanical Engineer job based in Gloucester:

• Lead system-level requirements, architecture definition, integration and validation
• Provide technical oversight of electro-mechanical actuation systems incorporating motors, braking systems, sensors, solenoids and control electronics
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and drive system-level technical decisions
• Manage technical relationships with suppliers, reviewing designs, qualification evidence and technical changes
• Define and lead system integration strategies and resolve complex system-level issues
• Oversee verification, validation and certification activities against relevant aerospace and military standards
• Lead technical reviews, risk assessments and system-level trade studies
• Support production, flight test and in-service investigations, including root-cause analysis
• Drive continuous improvement across systems engineering processes, tools and practices

Experience required for the Lead Electro-Mechanical Engineer job based in Gloucester:

• Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Systems Engineering
• Extensive experience with aerospace actuation systems or other high-integrity systems
• Strong systems engineering experience covering architecture, integration, requirements and V&V
• Experience using requirements management tools such as DOORS, Polarion or equivalent
• Proven experience leading supplier technical activities and design reviews
• Experience working to DO-178 and DO-254 requirements
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and interface specifications
• Experience with modelling, simulation, MBSE/SysML or safety/reliability engineering desirable
• Strong technical leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
• UK national with the ability to attain BPSS and SC security clearance
