Our client, one of the UK's best-known food manufacturers, is looking for a hands-on Lead Engineer to take ownership of an engineering shift within their high-volume manufacturing site in Nottingham.

What's on offer?

Up to £60,000 basic salary (depending on skills and experience)

The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll lead the engineering team on shift while remaining hands-on with maintenance activities.

Responsibilities include:

Leading and motivating a team of engineers

Coordinating planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdowns

Fault finding across electrical, mechanical and control systems

Driving equipment reliability and continuous improvement

Supporting production to maximise plant performance

Ensuring the highest standards of Health & Safety, Food Safety and GMP

Coaching and developing engineers within your team

The role combines technical expertise with leadership and plays a key part in maintaining site performance.

We're looking for someone with:

Essential

Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship (time served)

Electrically biased engineer with good mechanical competence

Experience with control engineering and fault finding

Minimum 2–3 years' experience leading or supervising an engineering team

At least 5 years' experience within FMCG manufacturing

Desirable

HNC/HND in Engineering

Food manufacturing experience

HACCP Level 2

Continuous Improvement / Lean experience

A Senior Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, Engineering Team Leader or Lead Engineer looking for greater responsibility within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
