We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Lead Estates Manager to join the Estates team of a large and complex education organisation.
This is a senior operational leadership role, responsible for ensuring the effective, compliant and high-quality delivery of estates and facilities services across a diverse estate.
You will lead the operational management of facilities management services delivered through external partners, including the mobilisation and ongoing management of an Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) contract. You will monitor performance, KPIs and SLAs, undertake audits and work closely with providers to ensure consistently high standards.
You will also support the strategic development of the estate through capital projects, refurbishment, condition assessments, minor works, acquisitions and disposals.
Key responsibilities- Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of estates and facilities services, including maintenance, cleaning, security, waste and grounds maintenance.
- Manage the IFM contract, monitoring performance against KPIs, SLAs and agreed service standards.
- Develop and implement estate development and maintenance plans.
- Support capital and minor works programmes and provide expert estates advice to senior stakeholders.
- Manage revenue and capital budgets, ensuring effective financial control and value for money.
- Lead, develop and motivate estates and facilities teams, promoting collaboration, accountability and service excellence.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Promote sustainability, energy efficiency and cost-effective use of resources.
- Produce clear reports and analysis to support effective decision-making.
You will have significant experience in estates or facilities management at a senior operational or management level within a large and complex organisation.
You will bring:
- Strong knowledge of estates and facilities management, including health and safety.
- Experience managing outsourced or contracted services.
- Budget management and financial planning experience.
- Strong project and change management skills.
- Experience leading and developing teams.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and decision-making skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and challenging deadlines.
- Experience with CAFM or similar estates management systems.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
A recognised estates/facilities management or related qualification is desirable, as is relevant professional membership or management qualification. Experience within further or higher education, or a similar complex environment, would be advantageous.
