Lead RF Engineer – RF & Microwave – Sedgefield, County Durham

A Lead RF Engineer job is available in Sedgefield, County Durham, with a leading technology business specialising in the design and manufacture of high-performance RF and microwave.

We are seeking an experienced Lead RF Engineer with significant expertise in RF/microwave circuit and system design, including RF simulation, microwave circuit design, system analysis and design for manufacture.

Based at a state-of-the-art facility in County Durham, you will provide senior technical leadership across the design and development of advanced RF/microwave products, working from initial concept through to production. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RF Engineer looking to take a technical leadership role within a highly capable multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Responsibilities of the Lead RF Engineer job in Sedgefield, County Durham
• Leading the design and development of RF/microwave sub-circuits, sub-modules and systems, taking technical responsibility for specification, simulation, realisation and verification.
• Providing technical leadership and guidance to engineers, leading design reviews, managing technical risks and supporting the development of engineering best practice.
• Performing system line-up analysis, tolerance/yield analysis and design for manufacture, while supporting component, IC and MMIC selection and supplier engagement.
• Working closely with electronics, mechanical, PCB layout, manufacturing and test teams to deliver robust RF designs to the required technical, quality, cost and schedule requirements.

Requirements of the Lead RF Engineer job in Sedgefield, County Durham

• Significant experience in RF/microwave circuit or system design, with a relevant degree or equivalent qualification in RF, Microwave, Electronics or Communications Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of microwave circuit design, RF simulation, system line-up analysis, tolerance/yield analysis and design for manufacture, with experience using tools such as Microwave Office, CST, EMPro or ADS.
• Experience with transceiver, amplifier, filter, module or subsystem design would be beneficial, alongside a practical approach to engineering delivery and problem solving.
• Proven ability to lead technical activities, mentor engineers and collaborate effectively across engineering, manufacturing and project teams, with strong communication skills.
