Brief Description:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Learning Mentor to join a welcoming secondary school in East London from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to gain valuable school-based experience and make a meaningful impact on students' academic and personal development.

A mixed Community School located in Canning Town, East London. It serves students aged 11-16 and is known for its diverse and inclusive community. The school places a strong emphasis on academic achievement, personal development, and preparing pupils for future education or employment.
The school offers a broad and engaging curriculum alongside a wide range of enrichment opportunities, with a strong focus on supporting students' well being, aspirations, and success both inside and outside the classroom.

About the Role:
This position involves working closely with students to support their learning, progress, and engagement in school life. The role is ideal for graduates considering a career in education, teaching, or youth work.
You will provide targeted support to individuals and small groups, helping to raise attainment, build confidence, and promote positive behaviour. You will also work alongside experienced teaching staff and SEN professionals, gaining invaluable hands-on experience.

We're Looking for a Dedicated Candidate to:

  • Support students in lessons across a range of subjects
  • Deliver small group interventions and one-to-one support sessions
  • Help students who may have additional learning needs or require extra encouragement
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour support strategies
  • Build positive relationships with students to support engagement and progress
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Requirements:

  • A degree (2:2 or above preferred) in any subject
  • A genuine interest in working with young people and pursuing a career in education
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, resilience, and a proactive attitude
  • Previous experience working with young people (desirable but not essential)
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
