The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming all through SEMH provision school in Derby (DE3). This role involves supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across a range of subjects, including Maths, English, Science, and other core curriculum areas. This is a full-time, temp to perm position starting in September 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support across a range of subjects, including Maths and English
  • Support pupils to access learning through personalised strategies that meet their academic, social, and emotional needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote engagement, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour
  • Assist pupils in developing confidence, resilience, independence, and essential life skills both inside and outside the classroom
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff to help adapt support strategies and intervention plans

Who We're Looking For:

  • Level 3 qualification minimum and essential
  • Experience working with SEN students, ideally within a secondary school setting
  • A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach to supporting young people
  • Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and students
  • As a learning support assistant, you must have a clear commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
  • Someone who can commit to full time hours, Monday to Friday, 8.40am - 15.40pm with the opportunity to progress into a permanent role.
