Job Title:   Learning Support Assistant
Location:   Glebedale School, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 3AY
Hours:        37.5 per week | Monday – Friday 
Salary:       £22,160.62  per annum (not pro rata)
Contract:   Permanent | Term Time Only

What you will be doing

  • Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to help students engage, learn and achieve
  • Building positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, wellbeing and independence
  • Supporting learning across a broad and engaging curriculum
  • Helping implement individual education, behaviour and wellbeing plans
  • Working closely with teachers and other professionals to support student progress
  • Encouraging positive social, emotional and behavioural development
  • Recording progress and celebrating achievements, no matter how small
  • Occasionally supporting educational visits and transport arrangements where required

Who we are looking for

You don't need to have worked in a school before. We welcome applications from people who are passionate about supporting young people and making a difference.

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 4 or above) or equivalent required
  • Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals
  • A caring, resilient and patient approach
  • The ability to remain calm and positive when faced with challenges
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved in all aspects of school life
  • Driving licence required

About us

Glebedale School is a special needs school which provides provision for ages 7 years and upwards.  We provide a nurturing and welcoming environment to SEMH students, and our curriculum has a keen focus on therapy, education and personal development.  Our school aims to help students grow academically, socially and emotionally to enable them to become capable future citizens.

We provide education to 40 students from the Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and Cheshire areas. At our last Ofsted in July 2025, we were rated “Good”.

At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity.
