Learning Support Assistant

Prospero Teaching is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and highly regarded secondary school in Birkenhead. We are looking for an experienced, caring, and adaptable Learning Support Assistant to join their dedicated team and provide vital support to students throughout the school.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the SEND team to support students with a range of additional learning needs. You will play a key role in helping pupils access the curriculum, develop confidence, and thrive in the classroom.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with SEND.
• Assisting students with their academic work across a variety of subjects.
• Supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs where required.
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
• Working collaboratively with teachers to adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
• Helping to create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.

The successful candidate will:

• Have previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant within a secondary school.
• Have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• Be patient, flexible, and committed to helping young people succeed.
• Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Be confident working both independently and as part of a wider school team.
• Be proactive, reliable, and able to adapt to the varying needs of students.
