Learning Support Assistant - Primary School Opportunity

A friendly and supportive primary school in Greenwich is looking to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join its inclusion team from September 2026.

This Learning Support Assistant role will involve supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2 who require additional help to access the curriculum. The school is seeking someone who can build positive relationships, promote confidence and deliver targeted support that enables every child to make excellent progress.

You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO, supporting a range of pupils with needs including dyslexia, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), developmental language disorder (DLD) and attention and concentration difficulties. The role will include classroom support as well as planned intervention sessions.



The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions in reading, writing and maths
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs during classroom lessons
  • Reinforce teacher-led learning through tailored activities and resources
  • Encourage independence, resilience and positive learning behaviours
  • Record pupil progress and contribute to support plans
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and outside professionals


The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a Learning Support Assistant who:

  • Has experience supporting children within a primary school or SEND setting
  • Is confident delivering targeted academic interventions
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is organised, adaptable and able to use their own initiative
  • Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning

Experience supporting pupils with literacy interventions, phonics programmes or speech and language needs would be beneficial.
