Full-time | Primary School | Long-term Opportunity
Location: Tower Hamlets - near Bow
Start: September 2026
Pay: £100-£120 per day, depending on experience
The Opportunity
A welcoming Tower Hamlets primary school is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join its support team from September.
This is a varied role for someone who wants to play an active part in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. You'll work across the classroom and through targeted support sessions, working closely with class teachers and the school's SENCO.
The school has a diverse pupil population and places considerable emphasis on inclusion, pastoral care and individual pupil progress.
Your Day Could Include
- Supporting pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis
- Helping children access the curriculum through adapted activities and resources
- Delivering targeted reading, phonics and maths interventions
- Supporting pupils with SEND, including Autism, ADHD and speech and language needs
- Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence and independence
- Providing feedback to teachers on pupil engagement and progress
- Supporting learning during lessons, breaktimes and wider school activities
The Right Person
You could be an experienced Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, graduate or someone with relevant experience working with children.
The school is particularly interested in candidates who are:
Patient - able to remain calm and consistent when pupils find learning challenging.
Proactive - willing to identify where a child needs help rather than waiting to be asked.
Relationship-focused - able to establish trust while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Adaptable - comfortable supporting different pupils and changing approaches when necessary.
Experience working with SEND, ASD, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties would be advantageous.
Why Consider It?
- Competitive daily pay
- Long-term stability within one primary school
- Supportive SENCO and experienced teaching team
- Regular opportunities for SEND training and CPD
- Excellent experience for graduates considering teaching, educational psychology or other education careers
- Potential for the role to become permanent
- Well-connected Tower Hamlets location

If you're a Learning Support Assistant who wants to do more than simply assist in the classroom and genuinely contribute to children's progress, this could be an excellent next step.
