TeacherActive is proud to be working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Somerset, supporting young people across both primary and secondary age groups. The provision delivers high-quality interim education for pupils who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools, with a strong focus on helping every student develop the confidence, skills and resilience needed to achieve positive outcomes.
The school is looking to appoint a full-time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) from September on a temporary basis. The successful Learning Support Assistant will support pupils both inside and outside the classroom, working closely with teaching staff to promote engagement, emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour. At Key Stage 4, you will primarily support students with SEMH and medical needs, helping them to access learning in a safe and supportive environment.
The successful Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will have:
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural or additional learning needs is advantageous
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Patience, resilience and a calm, positive approach
- The ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential
