Learning Support Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join our specialist SEMH/SEN provision supporting pupils aged 11–16.
This is a long term temp to perm position.
About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support pupils both academically and emotionally. You will play a vital role in helping young people develop confidence, resilience, self-regulation, and the skills they need to succeed.
You will:
- Support pupils within lessons and throughout the school day.
- Build strong, positive relationships that promote trust and engagement.
- Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual goals.
- Provide academic support across a range of subjects.
- Promote emotional regulation, wellbeing, and positive behaviour.
- Support personalised learning and intervention programmes.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and self-esteem.
- Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
We Are Looking for Someone Who:
- Has experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH and/or SEND needs.
- Understands that behaviour is often a form of communication.
- Is patient, calm, and emotionally resilient.
- Can remain positive and solution-focused in challenging situations.
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Is proactive and willing to use initiative.
