Cooper Lomaz is delighted to be supporting our long-standing client with the appointment of a Legal Cashier to join their friendly and close-knit Accounts team in Norwich.

About the Role

As a Legal Cashier, you will play an important role within the firm's Accounts team, supporting the day-to-day financial operations and ensuring client and office accounts are managed accurately and in line with relevant policies and regulations.

This is a full-time, office-based position in Norwich, although our client recognises the importance of flexibility and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily reconciliation of the firm's bank accounts.
  • Processing incoming monies via internet banking, ensuring funds are investigated and allocated promptly.
  • Processing outgoing payments by electronic transfer or cheque in accordance with firm policies and SRA Accounts Rules.
  • Checking and processing bills.
  • Reviewing client balances and working with fee earners to clear balances following completion, ensuring funds are returned promptly.
  • Processing transfers of costs and disbursements.
  • Liaising with clients by telephone to take card payments.
  • Providing financial support to fee earners and secretaries and assisting with queries via email, telephone and Zoom.
  • Reporting any breaches promptly to the Senior Accounts Manager and ensuring they are appropriately remedied.
  • Logging incoming cheques and arranging postings where required.
  • Supporting the wider Accounts team with any other reasonable duties as required.

About You

We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and detail-focused, with the confidence to work effectively in a busy team environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience using a client accounting system, including reconciling client accounts to bank accounts.
  • Knowledge of SRA rules and regulations relating to client accounts would be desirable.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to changing workloads.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
