We are seeking an experienced Legal Disrepair Surveyor with a strong understanding of housing disrepair legislation and building pathology.
The role will involve investigating disrepair claims, carrying out detailed property inspections, diagnosing defects, and preparing technical reports in relation to legal proceedings. You will be responsible for working closely with legal teams, housing officers, and contractors to ensure all works are specified, monitored, and completed in line with statutory requirements and court deadlines.
The right individual will have excellent report-writing skills, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to manage sensitive and complex caseloads within social housing environments.
Key responsibilities:
Carry out detailed inspections of properties subject to disrepair claims.
Diagnose building defects including damp, mould, leaks, structural issues, and general disrepair.
Prepare clear, detailed technical reports suitable for legal proceedings.
Work closely with legal teams and housing officers to support case preparation.
Specify remedial works and ensure contractors deliver repairs to required standards.
Monitor ongoing works and ensure compliance with agreed timescales and budgets.
Maintain accurate case notes, records, and photographic evidence.
Job Criteria:
Previous experience within social housing, housing associations, or local authorities.
Strong understanding of housing disrepair legislation and legal processes.
Experience diagnosing building defects and producing technical reports.
Knowledge of damp, mould, leaks, and structural disrepair issues.
Strong communication and report-writing skills.
