Legal Secretary – Family Law (Part Time) | Office Based
Southampton | £27-30K (Pro Rata)
Hours: 25 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 10:00am – 3:00pm (Flexible working hours available)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Secretary to join a friendly and well-established Family Law team. This is an ideal role for an organised and proactive individual who enjoys providing high-quality secretarial and administrative support within a busy legal environment.
Working alongside experienced Family Solicitors, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the department, providing first-class support while delivering an exceptional service to clients during what can often be sensitive and challenging circumstances.

Key Responsibilities
- Providing comprehensive secretarial support to the Family Law team.
- Audio and copy typing of legal correspondence, court documents and reports.
- Preparing legal documentation and court bundles.
- Managing diaries, arranging appointments and coordinating meetings.
- Liaising professionally with clients, barristers, courts and third parties.
- Opening and closing client files in accordance with compliance procedures.
- Managing incoming calls, emails and correspondence.
- Maintaining accurate client records using the firm's case management system.
- Assisting with billing, file administration and document management.
- Supporting fee earners to ensure matters progress efficiently and deadlines are met.
About You
The successful candidate will possess:
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally within Family Law.
- Excellent typing, organisational and administrative skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
- A professional, empathetic and client-focused approach.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.
- The ability to work independently whilst also contributing positively to a collaborative team.
