Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Example Recruitment Group is delighted to be working with a highly respected and growing specialist within the water hygiene and Legionella compliance industry, who is looking to recruit an experienced Legionella Risk Assessor due to continued expansion.

100% Legionella Risk Assessments – No Water Hygiene Duties

This is a genuine Legionella Risk Assessor position.

You will NOT be expected to carry out routine water hygiene or manual remedial work as part of this role.

There will be:

  • No temperature monitoring
  • No water sampling
  • No showerhead cleaning or descaling
  • No tank cleaning or disinfection
  • No TMV servicing
  • No flushing regimes
  • No remedial plumbing
  • No routine water hygiene engineering duties

Your role will be focused specifically on Legionella Risk Assessments, technical evaluation of water systems, schematics, report writing and providing professional recommendations to clients.

This makes the opportunity particularly well suited to an experienced Risk Assessor who enjoys the technical, investigative and academic side of water hygiene and wants to concentrate on risk assessment rather than being expected to undertake engineering and monitoring duties alongside it.

The Opportunity

The company delivers a UKAS-accredited Legionella Risk Assessment service to an impressive portfolio of clients across sectors including:

  • Healthcare and hospitals
  • Local authorities
  • Education
  • Housing associations
  • Leisure and hospitality
  • Charities and large estates

You'll work on everything from relatively straightforward water systems through to large, technically complex healthcare and commercial environments.

Although the company operates nationally, they aim to keep Risk Assessors working regionally wherever possible.

Another major benefit is the working structure. Risk Assessors will generally spend a week carrying out assessments on site followed by a week dedicated to completing reports and technical write-ups, either from home or the office depending on your location.

This provides proper time to concentrate on producing detailed, accurate assessments rather than trying to complete reports around a full diary of site visits.

Excellent Package

The overall package includes:

£34,000 basic salary

10% performance bonus

Company vehicle

All business fuel paid

Medical care

Lunch and snacks paid for every day whilst working on site

25 days annual leave, increasing with length of service

Annual salary reviews based on performance

Workplace pension

Flexible working

Dedicated individual training and CPD programme

Approximately 1–2 days per month dedicated to training and professional development

Paid Water Management Society membership

Perkbox employee reward scheme

Cycle to Work Scheme

50% contribution towards phone and internet costs

Out-of-pocket expenses covered in accordance with company policy

The Role

As a Legionella Risk Assessor, you'll deliver comprehensive UKAS-accredited Legionella Risk Assessments across a diverse portfolio of client sites.

Your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out detailed Legionella Risk Assessments in accordance with current legislation, guidance and company procedures.

Assessing hot and cold water systems and identifying potential Legionella risks and areas of non-compliance.

Working on complex water systems, including hospitals, healthcare facilities and large commercial estates.

Evaluating water system design, operation and management arrangements.

Producing detailed technical Risk Assessment reports.

Providing clear recommendations and identifying appropriate remedial actions.

Completing detailed water system schematics to accompany Risk Assessments.

Carrying out on-site annotation and drawings before producing finished schematics using CAD.

Producing everything from straightforward storage arrangements through to detailed water distribution drawings.

Undertaking additional technical assessments, including scalding and burning assessments and full engineering assessments where required by the client's scope.

Liaising with clients regarding access, site inductions, site guides and project requirements.

Working alongside Project Managers to ensure projects are correctly mobilised and delivered within agreed timescales.

Preparing relevant project and site documentation.

Providing technical feedback and client observations to Project Consultants.

Supporting trainee Risk Assessors and colleagues with their technical development where appropriate.

Following an agreed CPD Roadmap to continually develop your own technical knowledge.

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in speaking with experienced Legionella Risk Assessors who want to move away from combined Water Hygiene Engineer/Risk Assessor positions and concentrate specifically on the technical side of risk assessment.

Ideally, you'll have:

Previous Legionella Risk Assessment experience.

Experience assessing complex water systems.

Strong knowledge of hot and cold water systems, including their design and operation.

Good working knowledge of ACoP L8.

Knowledge of HSG274 Parts 1, 2 and 3.

Knowledge of BS 8580.

Understanding of S/HTM 04-01 would be particularly advantageous.

Experience within hospitals, healthcare or other complex estates would be highly desirable.

Knowledge of COSHH and relevant Health & Safety requirements.

Experience producing water system schematics.

Strong technical report-writing skills.

Excellent attention to detail.

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.

Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

A proactive and professional approach.

The ability to manage your own workload and work independently.

A willingness to travel when required.

A full UK driving licence.

A More Technical & Academic Risk Assessment Role

This opportunity is different from many Legionella Risk Assessor vacancies in the market.

The business isn't looking for somebody to spend half their week taking temperatures, collecting samples, cleaning showerheads or completing remedial works.

They want a Risk Assessor.

Your time will be focused on understanding water systems, identifying and evaluating risk, interpreting legislation and technical guidance, producing schematics, writing comprehensive reports and advising clients.

Combined with a working pattern that generally provides dedicated site-assessment and report-writing weeks, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in the technical and academic side of Legionella Risk Assessment.

With a £34,000 basic salary, 10% bonus, company vehicle, all business fuel, medical care, daily lunch and snacks whilst on site and significant investment in CPD, the overall package is also extremely competitive.
