Looking for a TA role that's more than just classroom support?

A specialist provision in Gateshead is looking for an experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their team.

You'll work with children and young people with physical and/or medical needs, helping them access education and develop their confidence and independence.

The role is varied and involves working alongside specialist teachers, schools and other professionals, with opportunities to develop your knowledge of assistive technology and specialist equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver tailored support to individual pupils.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources.
  • Support children with physical and medical needs.
  • Use assistive technology to support curriculum access.
  • Set up and check specialist equipment.
  • Support communication and alternative recording methods.
  • Encourage independence and participation.
  • Provide feedback and observations.
  • Work collaboratively with specialist professionals.
  • Follow relevant health, safety and support procedures.
Essential Criteria
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • Experience with physical/medical needs is desirable.
  • Confident ICT skills.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach.
  • Comfortable working across multiple settings.
  • Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle – essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
