- A Level 6 qualification in Early Years (e.g. BA Hons Early Childhood Studies, Early Years Teacher Status, EYPS, or equivalent)
- An Early Years degree or equivalent recognised by the DfE as Full and Relevant
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with early years experience
- A Level 5 qualification working towards Level 6 may also be considered for the right candidate
- Strong working knowledge of the EYFS framework and statutory safeguarding requirements
- Experience leading a room, key group, or curriculum area
- Confidence mentoring or supervising junior staff
- A warm, child-centred approach with excellent communication skills
- Paediatric First Aid (desirable, training can be provided)
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Planning and delivering engaging, EYFS-aligned activities tailored to each child's stage of development
- Acting as a key person for a group of children, building strong relationships with families
- Observing, assessing, and recording children's progress and next steps
- Supporting and mentoring Level 2 and Level 3 practitioners
- Championing safeguarding, health and safety, and inclusive practice across the setting
- Working closely with parents, carers, and external professionals (SENCO, health visitors, etc.)
