Library and Literacy Assistant Required in Haringey

TimePlan Education are working with a GOOD Secondary School in London who are looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic School Library and Literacy Assistant to support students across Key Stage 3. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about reading, literacy and supporting young people within a school environment.

As a School Library and Literacy Assistant your main objective will be to support the development of students' reading skills and promote a positive culture of literacy across the school, including:

  • Supporting students in the library and helping them select appropriate reading materials
  • Managing and organising library resources and stock
  • Encouraging students to develop positive reading habits and a love of literature
  • Supporting literacy activities and reading programmes
  • Helping students access books and other learning resources
  • Working alongside teachers and school staff to support students' literacy development
  • Creating a welcoming, inclusive and engaging library environment
  • Supporting students aged 11-14 with their reading and literacy needs

Experience Needed:

  • No previous school or library experience is essential, as full training will be provided
  • A genuine interest in reading, literature and literacy
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage positively with children aged 11-14
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • A patient, approachable and enthusiastic attitude
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
