The Opportunity
Wolviston Management Services are pleased to be supporting our client in the recruitment of an experienced Lifting Inspection Technician to join their team on Teesside.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced lifting professional to take on a varied, customer-facing position where safety, compliance and technical expertise are at the heart of the role.
Working across a range of customer sites and industries, you will be responsible for carrying out statutory inspections, testing and thorough examinations of lifting equipment and accessories, ensuring full compliance with LOLER and PUWER requirements.
 
The Role
As Lifting Inspection Technician, you will take responsibility for ensuring lifting equipment remains safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
You will inspect and test a wide range of equipment including chain slings, wire rope slings, shackles, hooks, eyebolts and racking, accurately recording findings and providing customers with clear guidance on defects, remedial actions and ongoing compliance.
 
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Carrying out statutory thorough examinations and inspections in accordance with LOLER and PUWER.
  • Inspecting and testing lifting equipment, accessories and associated machinery.
  • Identifying defects, unsafe conditions and areas of non-compliance.
  • Completing accurate inspection reports and certification records.
  • Tagging equipment appropriately as compliant or quarantined.
  • Advising customers on remedial actions, safe use and maintenance requirements.
  • Supporting repairs, replacements and follow-up inspections where required.
  • Travelling to customer sites and delivering a professional, safety-focused service.
  • Promoting best practice across lifting operations and maintaining high standards of safety, quality and compliance.
About You
We're looking for an experienced and safety-focused lifting professional who is confident working independently across customer sites.
Ideally, you will have:
  • A minimum of 3 years experience within lifting equipment inspection, servicing or maintenance.
  • Strong working knowledge of LOLER, PUWER and relevant industry legislation.
  • Practical experience with lifting equipment, accessories and associated safety standards.
  • Familiarity with LEEA codes of practice, with a LEEA qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Strong defect identification and inspection capabilities.
  • Excellent customer-facing and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong reporting/documentation skills.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.
Additional training including Abrasive Wheels, EMSS/CCNSG Safety Passport, Harness Training, IPAF, LEEA and Working at Height would also be advantageous.
