Literacy Support Assistant Salary: NJC Scale Points 7–11

Contract: Term Time Only (plus INSET days, if applicable)

Reporting to: SENDCo

Join our thriving school community seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and motivated Literacy Support Assistant to join our dedicated Learning Support Team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving young people's literacy and helping students overcome barriers to learning. Working closely with the SENDCo, teachers, parents and students, you will deliver targeted literacy interventions that enable students to develop confidence, independence and the skills they need to succeed across the curriculum.
The role as our Literacy Support Assistant, you will:
  • Deliver high-quality literacy interventions to individuals and small groups.
  • Assess students' literacy needs using standardised assessments.
  • Support students with reading, spelling, language and organisation.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to develop effective classroom strategies.
  • Prepare engaging literacy resources and monitor students' progress.
  • Build positive relationships with students and their families to support learning.
  • Contribute to the wider work of our highly regarded Learning Support Team.
We are looking for someone who:
  • Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school setting.
  • Has experience supporting students with SEND.
  • Has excellent literacy, communication and organisational skills.
  • Is passionate about helping every student achieve their potential.
  • Is patient, resilient, creative and able to motivate young people.
  • Works well as part of a collaborative team.
