Ready to step into a leadership role where you can shape a team while handling high-profile litigation?

We're working exclusively with a Devon based Local Authority to recruit a Litigation Team Lead , an exciting opportunity for an experienced Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive looking to combine hands-on advocacy with team leadership.

This is more than just another litigation role. You'll lead a small but talented team, oversee complex and varied contentious matters, and play a key role in supporting one of the South West's most ambitious local authorities.

The Role

  • Lead and develop a Litigation Lawyer, Legal Officer and Apprentice Lawyer.
  • Manage a varied caseload across housing, planning enforcement, environmental health, debt recovery, homelessness and other local government litigation.
  • Represent the Council in the civil and criminal courts and tribunals.
  • Advise senior officers, elected Members and key stakeholders on complex legal issues.
  • Drive high standards, service improvements and best practice across the litigation function.

About You
You'll be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with strong litigation experience across civil, commercial or criminal matters with 5 years + PQE. Confident in court, you'll combine technical excellence with the leadership skills to motivate, mentor and develop others.

This is an ideal move for a Senior Litigation Lawyer ready to take the next step into leadership, or an established Team Leader looking for a fresh challenge.

What's on Offer?

  • Local Government Pension Scheme (one of the UK's best)
  • Hybrid and flexible working
  • 26 days' annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing with service)
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Cycle to Work scheme

If you're looking for a role where you can genuinely influence both your team and the wider community while enjoying excellent work-life balance and long-term career prospects, we'd love to hear from you.
