We're now recruiting for a Loading Bay Operative to join us at our development, Pan Peninsula.

Important to note

Hours: 7:00 - 19:00.

Shift Pattern: 4 on - 4 off.

Location: E14, Canary Wharf. 

Salary per hour:  £14.25

Contract: 40 hpw average/permanent

What you'll be doing

• To maintain a robust operational process to effectively control vehicle access to/from 
the loading bay as detailed in the Daily Consignment Sheet.
• To ensure main entrance and public highways are not permitted to become congested 
by vehicles awaiting delivery to site. 
• To assist with security of residents, staff, contractors and site retail unit deliveries and 
dispatches to and from site, ensuring all Delivery & Dispatch Notes are signed for and 
recorded. Copies to be attached to the Daily Consignment Schedule.
• To implement Health & Safety for loading bay operations, adhering to current standard 
operating procedures and legislation.
• To assist with the site fire and emergency procedures policy and ensuring relevant 
preventative measures undertaken.
• To Liaise with DM for any departmental issues.
• To ensure that all delivery/dispatch requests and enquiries (both in person and by 
telephone) are dealt with efficiently in a timely and professional manner adhering to the 
relevant process and movement log sheet on every occasion.
• To control the use of the loading bay lift, ensuring that policies & guidelines are followed 
at all times.
• To ensure that waste paladin bins are ready for collection on the day stipulated by the 
Cleaning Operations manager.
• To ensure the loading bay is secured at all times with any unauthorized access 
challenged & dealt with in an appropriate manner.
• To liaise with the Duty Manager and FCC/Concierge at all times in relation to requests 
for deliveries to & from the site via the loading bay and advising on available windows 
for deliveries/dispatches from via the Daily Consignment Schedule
• To locate vehicles and direct drivers to their allocated waiting or loading point as 
detailed on the Daily Consignment Schedule.
• To meet vehicles on the access road and show drivers to the holding area or request 
that they move off site – not to allow any external parking on the main access road.
• To ensure all delivery vehicles remain parked in their designated area at all times until 
instructed to access the loading bay or to leave the site.
• To ensure that all deliveries/dispatches are carried out in a timely and professional 
manner at all times.
• To monitor and oversee the use of the goods lift, ensuring it is used in accordance with 
the relevant SOP.
• To monitor H&S issues outside and within the loading bay to ensure minimum 
movement of non-essential persons. The loading bay remains a restricted area at all 
times.
• To manage and maintain the Daily Consignment Schedule weekly in advance, ensuring 
regular deliveries are factored into the schedule.
• To account for all delivery notes/receipts received and signed for via the loading bay, 
ensuring they are attached to the Daily Consignment Schedule to act as a proof of 
delivery.
• To account for all dispatch notes/receipts received and signed-for via the loading bay, 
ensuring they are attached to the Daily Consignment Schedule.
• To keep accurate records of all vehicle movement to and from the loading bay.
• To carry out regular checks to ensure the loading bay area is kept in a clean, safe and 
free from hazard environment. Any fluid spills are to be attended to immediately.
• To liaise with the refuse collection operatives and make sure all bins are in the loading 
bay ready for emptying.
• To ensure that the no smoking policy is adhered to at all times, (especially delivery 
drivers). no food or drink is to be consumed in or around the loading bay.
• To liaise with day / night security staff regarding any potential / real security issues.
• To report any accidents within the accident report book. All serious incidents are to be 
escalated to both the General Manager and Deputy General Manager immediately.
• To ensure that all keys are accounted for at the start/end of each day.
• To ensure that any contractors working in the car park have the correct authority and 
are working to strict health & safety guidelines and the area of work is properly 
cordoned off. 
• To monitor and report any vehicle damage, incidents, or non-compliance whilst on site 
to the DM and escalate to the General Manager where necessary.

What you'll need to be successful

• Experience in a residential post room/loading bay 
environment will be beneficial but not essential.
• Have a positive, enthusiastic and self-motivated outlook, 
with high levels of customer service.
• Demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative whilst 
working as part of a team.
