About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Locum Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join a well-established multidisciplinary team supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across mainstream and specialist education settings in Sutton.

This is an excellent opportunity for a paediatric Speech & Language Therapist looking for a rewarding locum role with a varied caseload and the flexibility of part-time or full-time hours.



The Role - Locum Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist

You will manage your own paediatric caseload, working with children and young people aged 4-25 years across:

  • Mainstream schools
  • Specialist schools
  • Colleges
  • SEND provisions

You will carry out assessments, deliver evidence-based therapy, contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and work closely with families, schools and multidisciplinary professionals to achieve positive outcomes.



Caseload

You will support children and young people with a range of needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Down Syndrome
  • Deafness
  • Dyslexia
  • Moderate and Profound Learning Difficulties (MLD/PMLD)
  • Other SEND profiles


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an independent paediatric caseload.
  • Complete assessments and deliver therapy interventions.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Prepare clinical reports and contribute to EHCPs.
  • Provide advice and training to teachers, parents and carers.
  • Work closely with education, health and social care professionals.
  • Support schools through consultation and partnership working.


Requirements

  • HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist.
  • RCSLT membership.
  • Previous paediatric Speech and Language Therapy experience.
  • Experience working with children with SEND.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
