Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (SEN)
Responsible to: SENCO / Assistant SENCO
Purpose of the Role
To support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in accessing learning, promoting independence, and achieving their full potential within a safe, inclusive secondary school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEND.
- Assist teachers in delivering inclusive lessons and adapting learning activities.
- Support students' academic progress, behaviour, communication, and emotional wellbeing.
- Help implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support strategies.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals.
- Promote safeguarding, inclusion, and equal opportunities at all times.
Person Specification
- Experience of supporting young people with SEND (desirable).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Patient, caring, flexible, and committed to helping students succeed.
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
