M&E - Logistics Manager - Data Centre

James Lewis Recruitment

Logistics Manager

Camberley | Data Centre | Permanent

£60,000 - £70,000

If you’re a Logistics Manager who understands construction sites, critical environments and the pressure of keeping a fast-moving project properly controlled, this is a strong opportunity.

You’ll be joining a major Camberley data centre scheme involving two new data halls and the refurbishment of an existing hall. The job needs someone who can manage access, deliveries, material movement, storage, site set-up, waste, permits and day-to-day coordination without letting the project team get dragged into avoidable delays.

This is not a warehouse logistics role. It is site logistics in a technically demanding data centre environment, where poor planning can affect programme, safety, access and delivery.

The role

You’ll take control of site logistics across the project, making sure labour, subcontractors, suppliers and delivery teams can work safely and efficiently.

That means managing site access, delivery bookings, loading areas, laydown space, material movement, traffic routes, waste management, signage, welfare coordination and general site organisation.

You’ll be working closely with the project management team, supervisors, subcontractors, client representatives and security teams to make sure the site runs properly.

The role needs someone who can think ahead, control the detail and keep people moving in the right order.

What you’ll be doing

Managing day-to-day site logistics across a live data centre construction environment.

Planning deliveries, vehicle movements, loading areas, laydown space and material distribution.

Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, security, site teams and delivery drivers.

Managing access routes, permits, booking systems, gates, storage areas and site movements.

Keeping the site organised, safe and clear for installation teams to work properly.

Working with supervisors and project managers to understand upcoming labour, plant and material requirements.

Supporting the coordination of plant, lifting operations, waste removal and temporary works where required.

Making sure deliveries arrive in the right sequence and are moved to the right areas without disrupting the programme.

Managing site cleanliness, signage, hoarding, welfare areas and general logistics standards.

Identifying pinch points early and resolving issues before they affect progress.

Supporting health and safety, fire routes, emergency access and live environment procedures.

What you’ll need

You’ll need experience as a Logistics Manager, Site Logistics Manager, Site Manager or Logistics Supervisor within construction.

Experience on data centres, commercial fit-out, M&E projects, major refurbishments, live environments or technically demanding sites would be a strong advantage.

You should understand how construction sites operate, how materials move, how subcontractors work and how poor logistics can slow a project down.

You’ll need to be organised, confident and comfortable dealing with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers, security and client-side teams.

Experience with delivery booking systems, site access control, permits, traffic management, waste management, laydown planning and material movement would be useful.

You’ll ideally hold SMSTS or SSSTS, CSCS and have experience working in a controlled site environment.

The right person

You’re organised, firm and practical.

You can look at the next two weeks of work and understand what needs to be in place before people arrive on site.

You do not wait for problems to land on the project team. You spot them early, sort them out and keep the site moving.

You’ll suit this role if you like being at the centre of the job, keeping control of the site and making sure the delivery team has what it needs to perform.

This is a good opportunity for a Logistics Manager who wants a permanent role on a serious data centre project in Camberley, with a salary of £60,000 - £70,000 depending on experience.
