Quantity Surveyor (M&E) – Data Centre Project

London | 6-Month Contract | Outside IR35 Considered


Rate: Competitive Day Rate (DOE)

Our client is a leading UK Tier 1 Main Contractor delivering a flagship hyperscale data centre project in Greater London. Due to continued project growth and increased commercial workload, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a Mechanical & Electrical background to join the project team on a 6-month contract basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on one of the UK's largest live data centre developments, supporting the delivery of a major MEP package from construction through to commissioning and handover.


The Role

Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, you will provide commercial support across a range of M&E packages including electrical infrastructure, containment, cabling, HVAC, mechanical plant, fire protection systems, controls and associated specialist subcontract works.

You will work closely with project delivery teams, subcontractors, planners and client representatives to ensure robust commercial management throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Administration and management of M&E subcontract packages.
  • Preparation, review and agreement of interim applications and valuations.
  • Assessment and management of subcontractor variations and change events.
  • Cost reporting, forecasting and cash flow management.
  • Preparation and submission of compensation events, variations and notices.
  • Support procurement and commercial negotiations with specialist subcontractors.
  • Review subcontractor applications for payment and final accounts.
  • Identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Support monthly CVR reporting and project forecasting processes.
  • Liaise with project management and planning teams regarding programme impacts.
  • Assist with claims avoidance and commercial dispute resolution.
  • Ensure contractual compliance throughout project execution.
  • Support project close-out and final account negotiations.


Candidate Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
  • Strong M&E project experience within construction, mission critical, pharmaceutical, industrial, power, energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Previous experience on large-scale data centre projects would be highly advantageous.
  • Excellent understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
  • Experience managing high-value M&E subcontract packages.
  • Strong commercial reporting and forecasting skills.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced live construction environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial management systems.
