Machine Setter / Production Operative

Location: High Wycombe area
Salary: £27k
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.00am–4.30pm, with a 30-minute lunch break
Overtime: Occasionally available until 5.00pm

We’re looking for a reliable and practical Machine Setter / Production Operative to join an established local manufacturing business.

This is a varied, hands-on role involving the operation of automated and manual machinery, along with general production and warehouse duties. Full training will be provided on the company’s specialist equipment.

The successful candidate will need to be physically fit, comfortable working within a manufacturing environment and able to follow instructions carefully.

Key Responsibilities of the Machine Setter / Production Operative:

  • Operating automated and manual manufacturing equipment
  • Learning how to set and operate specialist machinery
  • Carrying out basic machine checks and reporting any faults
  • Cutting, grinding and preparing materials
  • Picking and packing customer orders when required
  • Preparing finished products for dispatch
  • Checking products to ensure they meet the required quality standards
  • Following company quality-control and ISO procedures
  • Working in line with Health and Safety policies, work instructions and safe systems of work
  • Keeping the production and warehouse areas clean, organised and tidy
  • Supporting other areas of the production operation when required

Key Requirements of the Machine Setter / Production Operative:

  • Previous experience within a warehouse, manufacturing or production environment
  • A good understanding of warehouse or factory operations
  • Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual duties
  • Able to understand and follow instructions from a supervisor
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • A methodical and tidy approach to work
  • Good attention to detail
  • Level 2 literacy and numeracy, or an equivalent qualification
  • Basic computer skills would be advantageous
  • Previous machine-operating or metalworking experience would be beneficial but is not essential
