This is a dual-responsibility role combining practical leadership with active production support. You will supervise operators, allocate tasks, maintain production flow, and step in to assist with operations and machine setups when required.

Department features purpose-built drilling/tapping machines, purpose-built assembly equipment, and hand assembly stations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Supervision: Assist with labour allocation, lead start-of-shift briefings, and provide floor leadership regarding pace, quality, and conduct.
  • Hands-On Production: Actively set up, adjust, and operate drilling, tapping, and assembly machinery. Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Performance & Delivery: Monitor progress against production plans. Ensure accurate production logging and deliver comprehensive shift handovers.
  • Quality Control: Enforce ISO 9001 standards. Conduct first-off checks, handle non-conforming products, and drive continuous improvements to minimize defects.
  • Training & Development: Coach and upskill team members to maximize shift flexibility and task coverage.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: Proven experience working within a mechanical machine shop environment (drilling, tapping, or assembly machinery).
  • Leadership: Prior experience as a Chargehand, Team Leader, or Senior Operator looking to step up into supervision.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to handle basic machine setups, troubleshooting, and tool adjustments.
  • Standards: Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, 5S principles, and ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills for team briefings and shift handovers.

  • Safety compliance and hazard/near-miss closure.
  • Minimizing defects, rework, and equipment downtime.
  • Maintenance of 5S standards and team training flexibility.
