We are seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Controller / Compliance Officer to join a busy Vehicle Maintenance Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in fleet, transport or automotive maintenance who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment.
You'll play a key role in ensuring a large and diverse fleet remains roadworthy, compliant and available to support essential operations by coordinating maintenance activities, managing repairs and insurance claims, and ensuring legislative compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate vehicle servicing, inspections, MOTs and planned preventative maintenance.
- Monitor vehicle downtime and ensure repairs are completed within agreed timescales.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with Operator Licence requirements and transport legislation.
- Liaise with workshop teams, suppliers and external repairers to maximise fleet availability.
- Assess, authorise and monitor vehicle repairs within agreed financial limits.
- Manage vehicle damage assessments and obtain competitive repair quotations.
- Oversee insurance and accident claims from initial notification through to settlement.
- Liaise with insurers, legal representatives, claims handlers and third parties.
- Monitor maintenance expenditure and prepare reports for management.
- Support compliance activities, audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all fleet documentation and maintenance records are accurate and up to date.
- Experience working within fleet management, automotive, transport or vehicle maintenance.
- Good knowledge of commercial vehicle servicing, inspections and repair processes.
- Experience managing vehicle damage repairs and insurance claims.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Good analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and fleet management systems.
- Transport Manager CPC or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working with large or multi-site vehicle fleets.
- Knowledge of Operator Licence compliance and UK transport legislation.
- Experience supporting audits and compliance activities.
