We are currently recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to join a busy food manufacturing site in Leeds on an initial 6-month contract.

This is a days-based rotating shift role, working 6am–2pm and 2pm–10pm, offering an excellent opportunity for an electrically skilled maintenance engineer who is confident working in a fast-paced FMCG environment and can hit the ground running.

The Role

You will be responsible for keeping production equipment running safely and efficiently, carrying out a combination of reactive breakdown maintenance, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical fault finding and repair on production machinery.
  • Carry out reactive and planned maintenance across the site.
  • Diagnose faults on motors, drives, sensors, control circuits and automated equipment.
  • Mechanical fault finding and repairs when required.
  • Work on pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Support production during breakdowns and minimise equipment downtime.
  • Carry out PPMs and equipment inspections.
  • Support engineering improvements and machinery modifications.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Work safely in line with site health & safety and food manufacturing standards.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical bias.
  • Previous experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar production environment.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good mechanical maintenance knowledge.
  • Experience with motors, drives, sensors, control systems and production machinery.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent.
  • Able to work independently and respond effectively to breakdowns.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Available to work 6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm rotating shifts.
