Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum
Working Hours: Predominantly 9:00am–5:00pm, with flexibility required to provide engineering cover between 6:00am and 10:00pm
Holiday: 25 days + Bank Holidays
Pension: 3% employer / 5% employee
The Company
A growing manufacturer of nutritional supplements and healthcare products is looking to appoint a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its expanding engineering team.
The business operates across two sites located just three miles apart, providing an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys a varied role combining hands-on engineering with technical and documentation-based responsibilities.
This is a newly created position driven by continued company growth, and the successful candidate will receive full training and guidance to develop their knowledge of the company's processes and equipment.
The Role
This is a genuinely varied 50/50 hands-on and desk-based engineering position.
Working across two nearby sites, you will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of production and packaging equipment, while also supporting the development and maintenance of engineering documentation, procedures and preventative maintenance systems.
The manufacturing environment is predominantly clean and controlled, with some areas requiring gowns and protective clothing.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of production equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
- Maintain machinery to accurate measurements and specifications.
- Work across equipment including conveyors, hoppers, silos, pumps, valves and vessels.
- Maintain and support packaging and labelling machinery.
- Complete PPM activities and associated documentation.
- Create and update engineering documentation, SOPs and maintenance procedures.
- Assist with continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.
- Work closely with production and other departments to minimise downtime.
- Provide engineering support across two sites approximately three miles apart.
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality and compliance within a controlled manufacturing environment.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a multi-skilled engineer with a good combination of mechanical and/or electrical experience.
Experience within a highly regulated manufacturing environment would be advantageous. The company is open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds, including:
- Pharmaceutical / healthcare
- Medical devices
- Food manufacturing
- Aerospace
- Other highly regulated manufacturing environments
Automotive experience may be considered, although candidates from the above sectors are likely to be a closer fit.
You will ideally have:
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience.
- Hydraulic experience would be advantageous.
- Experience maintaining production/manufacturing machinery.
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working with machinery requiring accurate measurements/specifications.
- Good computer literacy.
- Experience completing maintenance documentation, PPM records or SOPs would be beneficial.
- The ability to work comfortably both on the plant and at a desk.
- A proactive and organised approach to engineering and maintenance.
- The flexibility to support operational requirements between approximately 6:00am and 10:00pm when required.
