The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of critical production machinery within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.

Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you'll carry out both planned and reactive maintenance while driving continuous improvement across the site.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Responding to mechanical breakdowns and reactive maintenance
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults to minimise downtime
  • Completing shift handovers and maintenance reports
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping

You'll be working on a wide range of large capital equipment including:

  • Conveyors
  • Overhead cranes
  • Hydraulic and mechanical presses
  • Heat treatment equipment
  • Vacuum systems
  • Heavy industrial production machinery

Full training will be provided on the site's bespoke machinery through structured development plans and manufacturer (OEM) training.

About You

To be successful, you'll ideally have:

  • Experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Fitter or Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong mechanical bias
  • Experience within manufacturing, heavy industry, steel, foundry, FMCG, recycling, aggregates, automotive or similar industrial environments
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement
  • A commitment to health and safety
  • A recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or equivalent) is desirable
