Maintenance Engineer (Extrusion)
Location: Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire
Salary: £45,000 +
Hours: Monday–Friday | 40 Hours | Days Only
Overtime: Time & ½ Monday–Saturday | Double time Evenings & Sundays
Benefits Include: Private Health Care, Annual Bonus, Years Pay Reviews, Gym Membership, Flexible Start & Finish times
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an Extrusion Maintenance Engineer to join an established manufacturing business that is currently experiencing significant investment and growth.
Working as part of a small engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a range of production machinery, with the role primarily focused on blown and cast extrusion equipment.
This is a hands-on maintenance position involving a mixture of planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown work. The site operates some older machinery, so the role will particularly suit an engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem solving and getting equipment back up and running quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive breakdown maintenance and fault finding.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance across production equipment.
- Maintain and repair blown and cast extrusion machinery.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
- Replace and repair components where required.
- Minimise production downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Support maintenance of associated production equipment.
- Work closely with production and engineering colleagues.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety.
About You
The ideal candidate will have experience working as a Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing or production environment.
You should have:
- Strong electrical and/or mechanical maintenance experience.
- Experience with reactive breakdown and planned maintenance.
- Good fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
- A hands-on and proactive approach.
- The ability to work independently and within a small engineering team.
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Experience with extrusion machinery or plastics manufacturing would be advantageous, but engineers from other manufacturing backgrounds will also be considered.
The Environment
This is a busy, hands-on manufacturing environment with a high level of engineering activity. Some of the equipment is older and can be unreliable, meaning there is a significant reactive maintenance element to the position.
The role would suit an engineer who enjoys diagnosing faults, working on machinery and being hands-on, rather than someone looking for a predominantly planned maintenance position.
If you're an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking for a stable Monday–Friday role with flexible hours, excellent overtime rates and strong earning potential, we'd be keen to hear from you.
