My client is looking to recruit an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join their Engineering team at their Scunthorpe waste and recycling facility on a 6.00 - 14.00 & 14.00 - 22.00 rotating shift pattern to include alternate Saturday Mornings.

This is a hands‑on role supporting the reliability, safety, and performance of both fixed and mobile plant within a fast‑paced, industrial environment.

Working on a rotating shift pattern, you will deliver planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to ensure maximum plant availability and minimal disruption to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on fixed and mobile plant.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns efficiently.
  • Undertake welding and fabrication work (MIG / ARC or equivalent) to support repairs and plant integrity.
  • Ensure plant and machinery are available and fully operational during production hours.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, including job cards, photographs, and defect reports.
  • Record parts usage and support control of critical spares.
  • Work closely with operational teams to align maintenance activities with production requirements.
  • Communicate outstanding defects and repairs clearly at shift handover.
  • Carry out risk assessments prior to commencing maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site safety at all times

Experience

  • Time‑served Maintenance Engineer / Plant Fitter – essential.
  • Proven welding experience (MIG / ARC or equivalent) – essential.
  • Experience working on heavy processing plant, both static and mobile.
  • Knowledge of shredders, trommels, conveyors or similar plant equipment – an advantage.
  • Strong mechanical fault‑finding and repair capability.
  • Physically capable of working in an industrial environment, including manual handling.
