Maintenance Engineer

Engineering @ 365 Ltd

Engineering @ 365 are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established precision manufacturer based in the West Midlands. Our client produces precision metal components for customers across the automotive, aerospace, defence and industrial sectors, and holds industry-recognised quality accreditations.

Their site houses a large press estate of high-speed progression presses, multi-slide machines, blanking presses and a range of other power press platforms, supported by wire forming and assembly operations.

The Role

This is a hands-on, self-directed Maintenance Engineer role at the heart of a busy production operation. You'll be the person who keeps the presses running — responding to breakdowns fast, executing a structured PPM programme, and maintaining the electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems that underpin the business.

You'll work across the full site including machine-side in the press shop, in the maintenance workshop, and across site services and facilities largely managing your own priorities and working without close supervision.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Fault diagnosis and repair on electrical systems — PLCs, VSDs, servo systems, safety circuits, three-phase distribution and machine control panels
  • Mechanical and pneumatic maintenance across the press estate and ancillary equipment — clutches, brakes, feeders, pneumatic circuits, drives and associated systems
  • Power press maintenance across a range of press platforms — including guarding, clutch/brake systems, die protection and statutory inspection support
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance — working to a structured PPM schedule, updating the CMMS accurately and flagging defects before they become breakdowns
  • Reactive breakdown response — attending machine-side promptly, communicating clearly with production on downtime, and getting to root cause as well as the fix
  • Site-wide facilities and services — electrical infrastructure, compressed air, emergency systems, contractor management and maintenance stores
  • Coordinating with Production, the Press Tool Room and Quality teams

What You'll Need

Essential

  • Recognised electrical engineering qualification — City & Guilds 2360/2365, NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent apprenticeship-served trade background
  • Solid electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment, with the ability to fault-find on PLCs, drives and control systems unsupervised
  • Strong mechanical and pneumatic maintenance competence alongside electrical skills
  • Power press maintenance experience — working knowledge of guarding standards, clutch/brake systems and PUWER
  • Experience working to a PPM programme, with accurate record-keeping
  • Able to work unsupervised and communicate clearly with production teams under pressure

Desirable

  • 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
  • Hydraulic maintenance experience
  • CMMS / work order management system experience
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
  • Appointed Person — Power Presses (or working towards)

What's On Offer

  • Permanent, full-time role with a stable, growing business
  • Varied, technically demanding role across a broad range of equipment and plant
  • Supportive team environment with genuine investment in your development
  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
  • Company pension, death in service benefit, access to GP support services, holidays and overtime available
