We are looking for a proactive and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy added value manufacturing site, working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. This role is responsible for ensuring machinery, equipment and site services operate safely, efficiently and reliably to support production targets, reduce downtime and maintain high standards of quality, safety and compliance.The successful candidate will provide both reactive and planned maintenance support across the site, working closely with production, technical and engineering teams to keep operations running smoothly in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Your new role

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections and servicing on production machinery, site equipment and utilities.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns, identifying root causes and completing repairs to minimise production downtime.
  • Support continuous improvement activities aimed at improving equipment reliability, line performance, safety and efficiency.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults, working safely and in line with site procedures.
  • Work closely with production teams to support smooth changeovers, start-ups, shutdowns and day-to-day operational requirements.
  • Complete maintenance records, job sheets and handover notes accurately to ensure effective communication between shifts.
  • Carry out basic fabrication, fitting, installation and modification work where required.
  • Support the installation, commissioning and improvement of new and existing equipment.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety, food safety, hygiene, quality and environmental standards.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards within engineering workshops, production areas and plant rooms.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Maintenance Technician within a manufacturing, FMCG, food, packaging or added value production environment.
  • Recognised engineering qualification, such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, apprenticeship or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability across mechanical and/or electrical systems.
  • Experience working with conveyors, packaging equipment, motors, pumps, sensors, drives, control panels or automated production machinery would be advantageous.
