Location: Sheffield

Are you an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking for a varied, hands-on position where no two days are the same?

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Sheffield-based business seeking a proactive engineer to join its Engineering Team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and experienced team, combining workshop-based engineering with travel to customer sites throughout the UK.

The Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll work alongside other members of the Engineering Team to ensure customer equipment continues to operate safely, effectively and reliably.
Based from the company's Sheffield site, you'll travel to customer locations across the UK to undertake planned servicing, installations, repairs and call-outs. The position has an approximate 60/40 mechanical/electrical bias and will involve overtime when required, together with occasional overnight stays.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Commissioning, testing, installing, maintaining and servicing industrial machinery
  • Completing allocated works orders for servicing, repairs and call-outs
  • Travelling from Sheffield to customer sites throughout the UK
  • Carrying out fault finding, diagnostics and reporting identified issues
  • Ensuring your allocated company vehicle is appropriately stocked with required spares
  • Supporting the wider engineering operation when required
  • Assisting with occasional exhibitions and industry events
  • Identifying and suggesting proactive solutions and improvements
  • Providing guidance and mentoring to junior engineering team members when required

As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll work with customers across a diverse range of industries, giving you plenty of variety and the opportunity to develop your technical experience.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer who combines strong mechanical and electrical ability with excellent communication and customer service skills.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A mechanical or electrical engineering qualification, or at least three years' relevant hands-on engineering experience
  • Previous experience carrying out maintenance work at customer sites
  • Experience servicing, maintaining and fault-finding on industrial machinery
  • Experience working with PLC/HMI-controlled machinery would be advantageous
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • A proactive and conscientious approach to your work
  • Good planning and prioritisation skills
  • Good general IT skills
  • A full, clean UK driving licence

Additional technical qualifications, welding experience or materials-handling equipment training would be advantageous but are not essential.
The Maintenance Engineer position can be physically demanding, so you'll need to be comfortable undertaking practical engineering work both in a workshop environment and at customer premises.

In return for your skills and commitment, the successful candidate can expect:

  • Salary IRO £40,000 per annum
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Bonus opportunities
  • Medical Cash Plan
  • Bike to Work scheme
  • Enhanced family-friendly benefits
  • Charity fund-matching
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Employee events
  • Company uniform and PPE
